We are in Kaliningrad, Russia. It is a great feeling to be here even though we are missing a night of sleep and very weary from our travels. I have to say we had our first real Russian experience at the airport in Kaliningrad. They had us exit the plane down stairs and then boarded us all on three buses. This took some time to load all of the passengers on the buses. Then, we literally rode on the bus for less than 50 yards…it was a 30 second ride through a gate. We just chuckled to ourselves and realized that we have a lot to learn about this country and how it works! Our Interpreter and Driver met us at the airport and 20 minutes later we were at our hotel. We feel a little overwhelmed with information and the importance of tomorrow. After checking in our hotel, our CHI Kaliningrad Rep came to our hotel room with our Interpreter (they are both named Natasha) and they briefed us on what will happen tomorrow. We continue to pray that God will give us peace, strength and joy as we meet the girls. It is hard to believe the day we have prayed and dreamed about is one night’s sleep away. It sounds like the girls were together but now they are in separate orphanages. It will be a busy, busy day. Well, dinner just arrived and then we are off to showers and bed. We are praying for a really good night’s sleep.
