Kaliningrad, Russia

We are in Kaliningrad, Russia. It is a great feeling to be here even though we are missing a night of sleep and very weary from our travels. I have to say we had our first real Russian experience at the airport in Kaliningrad. They had us exit the plane down stairs and then boarded us all on three buses. This took some time to load all of the passengers on the buses. Then, we literally rode on the bus for less than 50 yards…it was a 30 second ride through a gate. We just chuckled to ourselves and realized that we have a lot to learn about this country and how it works! Our Interpreter and Driver met us at the airport and 20 minutes later we were at our hotel. We feel a little overwhelmed with information and the importance of tomorrow. After checking in our hotel, our CHI Kaliningrad Rep came to our hotel room with our Interpreter (they are both named Natasha) and they briefed us on what will happen tomorrow. We continue to pray that God will give us peace, strength and joy as we meet the girls. It is hard to believe the day we have prayed and dreamed about is one night’s sleep away. It sounds like the girls were together but now they are in separate orphanages. It will be a busy, busy day. Well, dinner just arrived and then we are off to showers and bed. We are praying for a really good night’s sleep.

  11. Amanda and Brett, I would not let Brett go to bed tonight without reconnecting me to the “world”…internet. Only because I could not wait another second to check in with you. There is not a momemt that goes by that you aren’t in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that you feel God leading you every step of the way throughout this trip. Can’t imagine it possible, but He loves you even more than we do! Isn’t it awesome that Our Father (or Daddy) in heaven loves it when we climb in His lap and say,”I need Your help, Dad.” Remember you are far away, but in so many ways you are NOT alone! Love, Jenee & family
