Brett had off for Columbus Day so we took advantage of the long weekend with our first date night and a trip to St. Louis. On date night, the girls stayed with the Kneppers and Brett and I headed to Terre Haute for dinner and some quick shopping (mostly for the girls). The girls had a blast and we truly felt refreshed. I love being a mom, but spending quality time with Brett will always be a joy to me! On Sunday, we got together with some friends in Edwardsville. Monday we made a quick trip to Cardinal Glennon and then the zoo. Well, let me rephrase that…it was supposed to be a quick stop at the lab for blood draws and urine tests. 1 1/2 hours later…Nora still wouldn’t produce a urine sample. If anyone has been around us at all…they know the girls are constantly going to the bathroom. It was one of those times when you are so frustrated, but you just have to laugh about it. After a huge glass of juice and a can of water, she produced a few drops of urine so we hoped it would be enough and headed to meet friends at the zoo. The girls LOVED the zoo and they still talk almost every day about the hippos, elephants, lions, seals, etc. We love taking the girls new places…it brings us so much joy to see it all through their eyes…but in a practical sense…taking a 3 and 4 year old anywhere in public is quite interesting. I feel like I am always taking someone to the bathroom, wiping a nose, keeping track of someone, having a “teaching moment”, etc.
